Counselor in Training Program

The CIT program teaches youth leadership, communication and practical skills. CITs enjoy fellowship time with other program participants and staff members and develop leadership skills.

Counselor in Training

The CIT program is for rising high school juniors who are interested in eventually working as a Camp Harrison camp counselor. Campers in the CIT program will live in a cabin of younger campers with a minimum of two supervising counselors (one senior counselor, one junior counselor). Their main responsibility in the cabins is to assist counselors with the younger campers at bed times, meal times, shower and devotions. As the CIT becomes more adept at working with campers, he/she can take on a more active role of leadership in the cabin. CITs will get an opportunity to work with several different age groups. Outside of the cabin, CIT campers will be trained in various program areas and will be asked to help teach activities in some of these areas. CITs will participate in daily developmental meetings with other CITs to share learning experiences and get advice from the CIT director. CIT campers will also have the chance to enjoy regular camp activities.

All CIT campers will have the opportunity to participate in two major CIT-only activities. One is an on-site service project for the camp and the other is an off-site adventure trip. The adventure trip will be an enjoyable experience that will allow CITs to interact with each other away from camp.
